The Benelli Nova is a pump-action 12 gauge built for field use, and this one is new. It carries a 26-inch barrel, a matte black finish over the metal, and a fixed synthetic stock with a 14.5-inch length of pull. Benelli lists it under UPC 650350200034. The pump action keeps the gun simple to run and easy to clean after a wet morning in the woods.

In South Carolina a 12 gauge pump is a practical choice for the deer woods, since any legal firearm may be used for deer. Game Zone 3 hunters in the Midlands and Lowcountry get the longest run, August 15 to January 1 on private land, while the Upstate zones open to guns on October 11. The 26-inch barrel swings quickly in thick cover, and the synthetic stock shrugs off humidity. Tag every deer and report it to SC Game Check by midnight.
