Columbia shooters have been asking when CZ would put out a new striker gun, and the DUTY 4.0 is it. It is a 9x19 service pistol with a serialized internal chassis, which means the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame is the modular part. The slide is cut for direct-mount red dots, and CZ's own photos show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield optics fitted, with fixed sights kept for backup. Barrel is 4 inches, not threaded; overall length 188 mm, width 33 mm.

Two sizes, two safety setups. The DUTY 4.0 C holds 15+1 (17+1 with the extended base plate) and weighs 770 g; the DUTY 4.0 F holds 17+1 (19+1 extended) at 780 g and stands 8 mm taller. Pick the MS version if you want a manual thumb safety. From Lexington and Camden out to Florence and Darlington, and down to Charleston, Summerville and Goose Creek, this is a pistol for the nightstand, the range in the Midlands and carry where South Carolina allows it. MSRP is $729.

Under the DUTY name sits a serial-numbered modular chassis, a 1.3 in (33 mm) wide fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame, a 4-inch barrel and a trigger CZ rates at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) with a 0.16 in (4 mm) reset. The slide is optics-ready by direct mount rather than an adapter plate. Fixed sights come standard, and the barrel is not threaded.

The F is the full-size frame: 5.6 in (143 mm) tall, 27.7 oz (780 g) with an empty magazine, 17+1 rounds of 9mm on board and 19+1 with the extended base plate. The longer grip fills a big hand and settles the gun between shots.

This version has no external safety lever. It relies on three automatic safeties, firing pin block, trigger safety and drawbar safety, and the trigger is the same as on the MS model. Shooters who prefer a lever should pick the MS.

Best fit: home defense, duty use, competition and long range sessions where the extra grip and two more rounds matter. Shooters coming from a CZ 75 will recognize the grip angle; buyers coming from any other striker gun will notice the trigger first.
