Springfield Armory's SA-16 A2 is a modern-production reproduction of the M16A2 rifle pattern, chambered in 5.56mm with a 20-inch barrel. The receiver is marked Property of U.S. Gov't in the style of the original. Serial ST950957. The bore is bright with strong rifling and the rifle rates very good overall. It comes with the box and a Springfield Armory rifle bag.

The full-length 20-inch barrel and A2 furniture appeal to shooters who want the service-rifle look and the longer sight radius for iron-sight matches, rather than a short carbine. In South Carolina the rifle qualifies for deer under the state's any-legal-firearm rule, but most buyers will keep this one for the range and the collection. Buying is the ordinary federal process at the dealer; the state adds no permit, registry or wait.
