Savage's Axis in .270 Winchester, serial R284811, is a plain working bolt-action hunting rifle: 22-inch round barrel, detachable box magazine, matte blue metal and a synthetic stock. A Weaver 3-9 power scope is already mounted. Condition is very good, and the bore is excellent.

This is the kind of rifle a lot of South Carolina deer hunters actually carry, and it comes scoped so there is nothing to buy before the season. A .270 is a flat-shooting whitetail cartridge for the long soybean edges of the Pee Dee, where guns open September 1, and for the Upstate ridges once the gun season there starts October 11. In Game Zone 3 you can hunt it from August 15, remembering it is bucks only until September 14, and every deer goes on a tag and into SC Game Check by midnight.
