Catalogued as SKU MGJ637 in the Japanese swords, fittings and firearms group, this is a kogatana, the small Japanese blade that accompanies a larger sword, offered here in polish. The hamon side has been fully polished rather than touched up in places, so that face of the blade shows as finished work. The piece is used, and its condition is recorded as excellent. No length, signature or period is stated in the listing, so the photographs are the best guide to what is on offer.

For a South Carolina collector this is a display and study piece, not a working tool. A polished kogatana suits someone building a set of Japanese fittings, pairing a small blade with a sword already in the collection, or keeping one clean example of the form in a case. It is a blade rather than a firearm, so no dealer transfer stands between you and the parcel.
