Henry's H024 in .38-55 Winchester is a brass-framed lever action with a 20-inch round blued barrel, iron sights and a Picatinny scope mount on top. The walnut stock and forend are engraved and the butt plate is curved brass. Serial 3855CC00491, modern production. There is some light wear, but the rifle is very good overall and the bore is excellent.

A .38-55 lever gun is a classic woods cartridge, and the Picatinny rail lets you add a low-power scope for the dimmer light under South Carolina hardwoods without giving up the irons. Cowboy action shooters will like the brass and the engraving; deer hunters can carry it under the state's any-legal-firearm rule, with Game Zone 3 open from August 15 and the Upstate gun season starting October 11. A 20-inch barrel keeps it quick from a climbing stand.
